“Music, when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory…”
--Percy Bysshe Shelley
Blood of Angels (Nox Arcana, 2006) Michelle Belanger, vocalist and vampire author, teams up with the musical duo of Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski to create the haunting new music of Blood of Angels. Drawing upon the Enochian myth of Watcher Angels who abandoned Heaven for a taste of mortal love, each of the nine tracks on this debut CD is steeped in myth, magick, and ancient folklore. The brooding and atmospheric orchestrations that have made Nox Arcana fan-favorites in the realm of Gothic music combine to create a wicked alchemy with Belanger's eerie and versatile soprano. Rich lyrics weave through layers of melody, telling stories of lost love and forbidden passion that will haunt your dreams and evoke your darkest desires.
Esoterica (Xyla, 2007)
With her debut album, Xyla
sculpts an unparalleled world of harsh beauty and raw emotion. Intense
distortion collides with unexpected melodies, leading you on a mythical
journey unlike any other. Destroying any attempt to confine her sound to a
specific genre, Xyla boldly creates a new breed of electronica. Ancient
secrets elegantly captured amidst synths and percussion. Fierce, hypnotic
beats spiraling out from the depths of melancholic atmospheres. Terrifying,
haunting, enchanting. Light a candle, turn the volume up and prepare to
confront your shadow in the realm of Esoterica.
Dancing with the Demigods (URN, 2006) Belanger continues her long-standing collaboration with guitarist Dominic St. Charles on this 2006 Rotting Corpse Records release. Michelle provided lyrics and co-wrote the music for the dark and driving “Hymn to Lilith” as well as the Crowley-inspired anthem, “Cry Freedom,” with its evocative Latin refrain. She also provides backing vocals on “Firechild,” “Shadow Dancer,” and “Etched in Stone.” Michelle co-stars with the vampire Don Henrie and URN keyboardist Mistress Sophia on the “Shadow Dancer” video, included on the enhanced CD. Winter’s Knight (Nox Arcana, 2005) In this first musical collaboration with long-standing friend Joseph Vargo of Monolith Graphics, Michelle lends her ethereal vocals to track 17, “Pass Time with Good Company,” weaving strands of harmony and counter-harmony above and throughout the traditional Tudor melody of this ballad penned by Henry VIII and previously performed by Blackmore’s Night.
Desecrated Ashes (URN, 2003) Michelle appears on track four,
“Angels Are Weeping,” a song Michelle co-wrote with URN guitarist Dominic St. Charles when
the two attended college together. This Gothic ballad was first performed by
